Intended for new staff and those who are new to Medi-Cal or managed care, this helpful primer will improve your understanding of the Medi-Cal program’s structure and purpose, as well as offer an overview of what Medi-Cal managed care is, who it serves and how it works.

Who Should Attend
This introductory webinar may be most valuable and informative for individuals who are new to managed care and/or the Medi-Cal environment. The program may also be valuable for local health plan staff who have not yet attended the LHPC Institute’s Medi-Cal Managed Care 101 course.

Jonathan Freedman works with plans, providers, associations, and governmental and non-governmental entities in the areas of public health, safety net health care, and public policy. His work focuses on strategic planning, public health improvement and transformation, and the health care safety net. Prior to joining HMA, Mr. Freedman held a variety of management and leadership roles at L.A. Care Health Plan and with the County of Los Angeles, and led a number of high-profile health- and health care-related initiatives.

Registration Confirmation: Registrants will receive two emails — a registration confirmation email and a separate email that contains access information for the webinar. 

Participating in the Webinar: You will only need a computer with an updated web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox or Safari are recommended). Participants may opt to listen to the webinar via telephone or device. 

Cancellation and No-Show Policy: Cancellation notification must be submitted in writing to institute@lhpc.org seven or more days prior to the course date. Refunds will not be given after that date. Substitutions are encouraged. Payment will be due for registered individuals that do not attend or participate in the event, and for which a cancellation notice is not received.
