Overview

California’s local health plans work tirelessly to improve quality of care for their members. From data collection and measurement to interventions and reporting, local plans are advancing quality improvement (QI) efforts that will lead to better care, better outcomes and better performance.

Join us for this two-part webinar series where you will learn the fundamentals of quality management in Medi-Cal managed care, as well as strategies and considerations for driving quality forward in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Who should attend:
Webinar 1: Local health plan staff across all departments who are interested in better understanding the role and importance of quality in serving Medi-Cal members and how all areas of plan operations contribute to promoting quality.

Webinar 2: Local health plan QI directors, QI managers or other staff whose work supports the plan’s quality management program. This session was developed with a focus on challenges and opportunities resulting from the COVID-19 experience.

Genia Fick
Vice President, Quality
Inland Empire Health Plan​

Genia Fick serves as the Vice President of Quality where she is responsible for leading diverse teams that support IEHP’s quality programs across the organization, including quality monitoring and oversight, quality improvement, Pay for Performance and Value-Based Payment programs, and more. In addition to her work at IEHP, Genia has more than seven years of experience serving as a Certified HEDIS Compliance Auditor for the National Committee for Quality Assurance where she conducted Health Plan and Independent Physician Association (IPA) audits for HEDIS reporting, IHA Pay for Performance (P4P) reporting and CMS Medicare Data Validation.

Genia has a master’s degree in Health Psychology from Northern Arizona University where her studies focused in psychological links to health, research methods and statistics. 

Carlos Hernandez
Director, Quality Management & Improvement
CenCal Health

As CenCal Health’s Director of Quality Measurement, Mr. Hernandez oversees operational processes necessary to evaluate CenCal Health’s effectiveness and provide analytical support to the implementation of strategic initiatives. Additionally, he directs all aspects of HEDIS project management, including the continual refinement of CenCal Health’s overall quality measurement program. Prior to and during Mr. Hernandez’s present directorship, he additionally directed CenCal Health’s Health Services Department.

Mr. Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stanford University, and has more than two decades experience in quality management, and prior experience in program management and statistical process control. He is a longstanding member of the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Technical Measurement Advisory Panel, and as an advisor to the NCQA he also formerly served on its Technical Advisory Group, Audit Methodology Panel, and Expert Panels on Pediatric Lead Screening and Culturally & Linguistically Appropriate Services.

Robert Moore, MD, MPH
Chief Medical Officer
Partnership HealthPlan of California

Dr. Moore serves as Chief Medical Officer of Partnership HealthPlan of California, a County Organized Health System providing Medi-Cal Managed Care services to 570,000 members in 14 Northern California counties. He is a graduate of the UCSF School of Medicine, the Columbia University School of Public Health, Western Governor’s University Graduate Business School and the Family Medicine residency at Ventura County Medical Center. He has completed post-graduate training in Health Center Management, Health Care Leadership and Quality Improvement. His professional interests include delivery system transformation, palliative care, intensive outpatient care management, chronic pain and addressing social determinants of health.

Michelle Nepomuceno Stott, RN, MSN
Quality Improvement and Population Health Director
Central California Alliance for Health

Michelle N. Stott serves as the Quality Improvement and Population Health Director at Central California Alliance for Health where she is responsible for strategic direction and management of the Alliance Quality Improvement Program, including oversight of quality measures, clinical safety, clinical performance improvement, quality and health programs, and population health.

Michelle received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California at Davis and a Master of Science in Nursing, with an emphasis in Entrepreneurial Leadership, from San Francisco State University. She is a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality and the California Association for Healthcare Quality, and holds certifications in Six Sigma and Lean for Transactional Business Processes. She is an alumnus of the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) Health Care Leadership Fellowship (Cohort 17).

Registration Confirmation: Registrants will receive an email confirmation that will contain a link to the program participant information web page. The web page provides helpful instructions for accessing the program and any accompanying materials.

Participating in the Webinar: You will only need a computer with a web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox is recommended) and a telephone. Audio for the program will be available via toll-free number or by using your computer speakers. 

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation notification must be submitted in writing to institute@lhpc.org seven or more days prior to the course date. Refunds will not be given after that date. Substitutions are encouraged. Payment will be due for registered individuals that do not attend or participate in the event, and for which a cancellation notice is not received.
