Local Health Plans of California’s Statement On Newsom Administration May Budget Revision
SACRAMENTO, CA – Local Health Plans of California CEO Linnea Koopmans issued the following statement in response to the release of Governor Newsom’s proposed May Budget revision, which calls for deep cuts to the state’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal:
“As Congress attempts to slash federal support for Medicaid, this is the time for California to boldly stand up and affirm its commitment to the most vulnerable among us, not compound the problem.
“The Administration’s proposed cuts to Medi-Cal will have profound consequences: threatening the health of hard-working low-income Californians, destabilizing our provider infrastructure, and limiting essential services.
“California’s safety net is facing a one-two punch from the federal and state government, but rest assured that local plans will continue to fight for Medi-Cal enrollees. We urge the Legislature to do the same.”
