Local Health Plans of California’s Statement On Passage of $1 Trillion in Cuts to Medicaid
SACRAMENTO, CA – Local Health Plans of California CEO Linnea Koopmans issued the following statement in response to the sweeping budget reconciliation bill, One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1), which calls for devastating cuts to the Medicaid program:
“For 60 years, Medicaid has been a lifeline for millions of families, seniors and children. The reliable access to essential health care offered by this foundational program has enabled many Americans to focus on building a better life for themselves and their family.
“Congress’s $1 trillion in cuts to health care pose an uncertain future for the 1 in 3 Californians with Medi-Cal coverage and the health care community that supports them.
“While we don’t yet understand the full impact of these cuts, we are committed to working collaboratively on creative solutions that preserve access to care to the greatest extent possible.
“Our resolve is unchanged – to uplift and support our safety net population by ensuring access to quality care.”
