Local Health Plans on Newsom Healthcare Proposal
Monday, January 7, 2019 - Brianna Lierman, CEO of the Local Health Plans of California, issued the following statement regarding Gov. Newsom’s healthcare proposal.
“Expanding Medi-Cal to undocumented young adults is the right thing to do. All youth deserve reliable access to health care, which will allow them to focus on living happy and productive lives. Local health plans look forward to working with the Newsom Administration on this important and laudable goal.
“LHPC looks forward to learning more about the additional health proposals put forth by Governor Newsom.”
Local Health Plans of California (LHPC) is a statewide trade association that represents all 16 of the publicly managed, not-for-profit health plans that provide access to critical and comprehensive healthcare services for low-income populations enrolled in California’s Medicaid program, “Medi-Cal,” in 36 out of 58 counties in the state. With over 7.5 million enrollees, our plans serve approximately 70 percent of all Medi-Cal managed care beneficiaries. Our member plans cover more lives than 49 other states’ entire Medicaid programs.
