it is the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Performance in
Quality Care from the California Department of Health Care
Services (DHCS) for the Medi-Cal program.

CAMARILLO, Calif., September 25, 2017 – Gold Coast Health Plan
has awarded $50,000 to the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging’s
Fall Prevention Program through its Community Health Investments
initiative. The award supports supervisor John C. Zaragoza and
the county Board of Supervisors’ proclamation of September 22 to
28 as Fall Prevention Awareness Week.

ORANGE, California (September 18, 2017) — After being nominated by CalOptima, Jacqueline Ruddy, a member since 2009, won a national scholarship from the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP). Jacqueline’s compelling story about being a mother, full-time student and two-time breast cancer survivor helped her achieve this national honor and a $5,000 scholarship. She is pursuing a master’s degree in social work at USC.

(August 24, 2017) — Honoring the role of CalOptima in Santa Ana, City Councilman Jose Solorio presented the agency with a Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Outreach in the Latino Community. (Alameda, CA, August 11, 2017) – Beginning in January 2014, Alameda Alliance for Health (Alliance) was one of nine health plans in California to participate in the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) quality improvement collaborative, in coordination with the Million Hearts initiative dedicated to improving hypertension control for Medi-Cal members. CAMARILLO, Calif., June 27, 2017 – Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP)
is awarding $1.5 million in grants to organizations throughout
Ventura County for programs that focus on access to health care,
food and housing.
Los Angeles — L.A. Care Health Plan has partnered with nine
other Medicaid health plans from across the nation to urge the
U.S. Senate to carefully consider the policy proposals being
debated, which will adversely impact the 74 million mothers,
children, seniors and people with disabilities who are currently
covered by Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California). Further, the
coalition has suggested several compassionate alternatives to the
severe cuts being proposed.
(French Camp, CA) – Since 2015, Health Plan of San Joaquin’s (HPSJ) scholarship program to encourage young students with an interest in pursuing a health or medical careers that would lead them back to the Central Valley – the HPSJ Health Careers Scholarship Program (HCSP) – has partnered with seven local schools and programs to award to scholarships of $2,500 to each location.

Program for our HPSJ patients with Congestive Heart Failure,
Chronic Pulmonary Disease, Late Stage Cancer and Advanced Liver
Disease.

The “will they” or “won’t they” Congressional rollercoaster of
repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act is once again in
motion. Republicans have scheduled a vote on repeal on Thursday,
signaling they have the votes to pass it.
But let’s be clear: For all the amendments rumored to be added
for this or that constituency, the basics remain the same.
Remaining in the Republican plan are serious cuts to Medicaid,
what we in California call Medi-Cal.
