A Temecula breast cancer resource center has recently partnered
with Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), increasing the center’s
ability to help patients battling breast cancer.
For the next three years, IEHP has contracted with Michelle’s
Place to provide the health plan’s patients with a patient
navigator – a friendly face who can help women navigate through
the resources they need after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Daniel Gutiérrez, 59, didn’t want to sign up for health insurance

Health Care Services (DHCS) uses the Aggregate Quality Factor
Score (AQFS) to rate the quality of Medi-Cal managed care plans
throughout California, which is based on Health Care
Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS). HEDIS
indicates performance on the quality of care and service,
including prevention and screening, chronic condition management,
access and availability of care, and healthcare utilization.
(French Camp, CA) – Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) employees,
in partnership with United Ways (UW) in San Joaquin and
Stanislaus counties, contributed a combined $37,392 for the
just-ended 2016 UW campaign. For HPSJ, a not-for-profit managed
care health plan which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary
serving local families, this is the latest in a long tradition
where HPSJ employees step up and out, on behalf of members and
communities. During the past 18 years, HPSJ employees have raised
$395,000.
Santa Barbara, Calif., Dec. 13, 2016 – To
ensure that vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities
continue to receive at-home medical services, CenCal Health is launching a
pilot project with DASH
(Doctors Assisting Seniors at Home) to serve its members. DASH is
a program in which Dr. Michael Bordofsky and his physician
partners with Palliative Care Consultants of Santa Barbara serve
members in South Santa Barbara County.

Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) placed the Alameda
Alliance for Health (Alliance) under a state-managed
conservatorship. CEO Scott Coffin joined the Alliance in
May 2015 to lead the organizational turnaround, oversee the
conservatorship and a subsequent one-year remote monitoring
period, and to continue building care management solutions for
Alameda County residents.
Santa Barbara, Calif., Nov. 15, 2016 – CenCal Health executives and staff recently spent time with local seniors at the Goleta Valley Community Center, one of 11 sites across the county where the Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County (CAC) provides a nutritious meal for seniors in need.
At the beginning of the year, CenCal Health entered into a partnership with CAC to help the organization continue to serve 150,000 meals to more than 1,400 seniors in 2016.
This event is being held to raise awareness of health and
healthcare disparities experienced by African-Americans in San
Joaquin County, and to spotlight prevention and strategies that
can improve the health and well-being of all area

FAIRFIELD – Today, Partnership HealthPlan of California took a moment to mark a special milestone, Medi-Cal turning 50. Beginning in 1966, Medi-Cal provides health coverage to low-income families, children, pregnant women, and the disabled in California.
ORANGE, Calif. (September 20, 2016) — CalOptima
is California’s top-rated Medi-Cal plan, according to the NCQA’s
Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2016–2017. It is the third
year in a row that NCQA has named CalOptima best overall in the
state.
CalOptima received a score of 4 out of 5 — the highest score
awarded to any Medi-Cal plan in California. Further, only 15
Medicaid plans of the 171 reviewed nationwide scored higher. The
NCQA ratings are based on standardized, plan-reported data
regarding health care quality and customer satisfaction.

(French Camp, CA) – Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) CEO Amy Shin has joined the executive committee of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), a national trade association representing 57 not-for-profit safety net health plans in 26 states, which collectively serve more than 17 million people enrolled in Medicaid (called Medi-Cal in California), Medicare, Marketplaces, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other health programs. HPSJ is a long-time ACAP member and Shin also serves on the ACAP board of directors.

HPSJ staff donated quality children’s books. “The books are already flying off the shelves,” said HPSJ Health Promotions Manager Jenny Dominguez, who oversees the restocking of the donated books from HPSJ employees.
ORANGE, Calif. (August 4, 2016) — Community and
health care leaders were sworn in on CalOptima’s Board of
Directors today. The Orange County Board of Supervisors appointed
six new members and reappointed one member to serve on the Board,
which was reconstituted to have 10 seats, with nine voting
members. The appointees’ terms end August 3, 2020.
