thermometers rise to ‘extreme heat’ levels, heat-related illness
and even death can result. Everyone needs to take precautions.

exercise outdoors, infants and children, the homeless or poor,
and anyone with a chronic medical condition.”

Ventura County Department of Public Health and Dignity Health’s
St. John’s Regional Medical Center for a one-day event in Oxnard
on Saturday to promote healthy living for the prevention and
management of diabetes.
ORANGE, Calif. (May 31, 2016) —The CalOptima
Regional Extension Center (COREC) achieved its goal to assist
1,000 local doctors implement and meaningfully use certified
electronic health records (CEHR) with their patients. The
milestone to attain 100 percent of COREC’s participating primary

Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, Calif., May 19, 2016

Health, the health care program serving low-income residents
of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, presented a
Healthcare Innovation Award to Dignity Health at their board
meeting on May 18.
In Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Merced Counties, 121,000 residents
have gained Medi-Cal coverage through the Affordable Care Act
(ACA). This increased coverage enables better health for many,
but has also put new demands on provider capacity in an area
already challenged by a shortage of health care providers.
Opioid overuse has been a long-standing, major problem, both
nationally and in California. According to the
CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 14,000
Americans died in 2014 as a result of prescription opioid
overdose. In 2015, Health Plan of San Joaquin implemented
several safety measures to prevent overuse and promote
appropriate use of opioid medications among HPSJ members.

CAMARILLO, Calif., Dec. 18, 2015 – Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP)
reached a milestone in its membership this month, surpassing
200,000 members.
With 202,360 members, GCHP is on track to quickly surpass its
projected membership of 203,070 for the 2015-16 fiscal year,

Santa Clara Family Health Plan (SCFHP) received the 2015
Outstanding Performance Award for medium-scale Medi-Cal managed
care plans in California from the Department of Health Care
Services (DHCS). Only three outstanding performance awards were
given by DHCS—one each for small, medium, and large-scale
Medi-Cal managed care plans.

Alameda Alliance for Health (Alliance) back to the local control

patients in 14 counties.
